The Hamilton Piano Company offers a complete line of professional piano services, combining the highest quality products, services, and workmanship available. Whether you’re in need of a piano tuning, minor repairs, or a full piano restoration or rebuild, we can help.
Workshop
Our purpose built workshop/showroom is fully equipped to handle anything from minor repairs to complete rebuilds. All pianos (not digital or electric pianos … which aren’t really pianos) are able to be serviced. In addition to uprights and grands, player pianos are welcome, as Nathan is the country’s leading expert on their restoration.
Meet the team
Kevin began his piano technician apprenticeship in 2000, training with an Australasian Registered Piano Technician (ARPT) of examiner standard. He passed his exams and became an ARPT himself in 2004 and has worked on servicing and rebuilding pianos in the Waikato region ever since.
Kevin is active in the NZ Piano Tuners and Technicians Guild, having served as president for 2 years and on the committee for 10. He is now the NZ exam convenor for the Guild as well as a tuning examiner.
A graduate of Waikato University with a degree in piano performance, Kevin worked as resident musician on the Waipa Delta for 12 years and taught piano lessons at primary, intermediate, and secondary levels, as well as adult night school classes for 15 years. He is often found playing piano for community theatre productions.
After many years of experience as a furniture restorer, Nathan began working on pianos in 2010 and quickly became proficient in restringing, case repairs, and upright and grand piano repair and regulation. Nathan has also become the country’s leading expert in the restoration of player piano mechanisms, having restored more than 100 examples for clients all around the country.
Roz takes her job in sales very seriously. She specialises in greeting visitors (she especially likes young visitors) to the workshop and showing them to pianos she thinks will suit them. In her spare time, Roz enjoys walks on the beach, good music, and tummy rubs.
